The club was established in 1989 with 27 members; currently membership is 52 and is open to all residents of the Village and surrounding areas of the Borough.
Played at the Village Hall, Church Road there are three sessions on three separate days.Mondays - primarily set up for members unable to attend daytime sessions and wanting a competitive game. Teams are selected at random.
Wednesdays - teams of four are selected at random. Bowling is quite competitive but there is a more relaxed atmosphere that gives an opportunity to practice skills and improve your game.
Fridays - played in pairs, initially it may be possible for the secretary to arrange a partner for new members until they get to know other members. Games are played in a competitive manner.
Currently we run three league teams, The Rooks, The Ravens and The Robins all playing in various divisions with the South Essex Short Mat Bowling League. Once you become proficient you can become eligible for selection for one of these teams if it is your wish. League selection is open to members of all three sessions of the club.
Although bowling is quite competitive, games are played in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Numbers are limited to 28 at the Monday evening session with a limit of 30 members at both the other sessions.
Join as many sessions as you wish, there is no minimum or upper age limit but entry is entirely based on availability at the relevant session.
If you are interested in finding out more about bowling with a view to becoming a member, contact our secretary
Hilary on 01268 711118.
We offer three free trial consecutive visits, without the need to have any special equipment, to enable you to establish
if you like us as well as bowling.
Looking forward to meeting some of you soon.
